Physiotherapy - How can it help you?

  • Neck or low back pain?
  • Back stiffness?
  • Sciatic nerve pain?
  • Shoulder injuries (tears, strains, tendinitis, bursitis, frozen shoulder...)?
  • Tennis or golf elbow?
  • Hip or knee pain (hip bursitis, condropathia patellae, patellae tendinitis...)?
  • Any muscle strain, muscle pull or even muscle tear?

Physiotherapy helps to relieve pain and to restore movement and function when someone is affected by an injury. It can also help to reduce risk of injury in the future.

Physiotherapy can be helpful for people of all ages with a wide range of health conditions, including problems affecting the bones, joints and soft tissue, such as neck pain, back pain, shoulder pain and sports injuries.

Physiotherapy can improve your physical activity while helping you to prevent further injuries.

Dry Needling – What you should know about it?

Physiotherapists use Dry Needling with the goal of releasing or inactivating trigger points to relieve pain, reduce muscle tension and improve range of motion.

A myofascial trigger point is a painful nodule in the muscle. In a trigger point, the muscle does not receive the nutrients needed for its correct working. This point can also produce referred pain and loss of flexibility and joint mobility.

Dry Needling can be used with optimal results in any muscular or tendon injury.

FAQs

Physiotherapy – What can I expect?

Physiotherapists consider the body as a whole, rather than just focusing on the individual aspects of an injury.Some of the main approaches used by physiotherapists include:

Manual Therapy;

Where the physiotherapist uses their hands to help to relieve pain and stiffness, and to encourage better movement of the body.

Education and physical activity advice;

The physiotherapist can give general advice about habits that might be affecting you in your daily life, such as wrong postures. Exercises may also be recommended to improve your general health and mobility, and to strengthen specific parts of your body.

A series of treatments on the above treatments/processes may be required to reach your end goal

Dry Needling – What can I expect?

The treatment of myofascial trigger points with Dry Needling consists in introducing an acupuncture needle in the trigger point. After applying this technique, the Central Nervous System starts a regeneration process of the injured muscle. That way, more nutrients arrive to the muscle and it gets completely relaxed, with a significant improvement of located and irradiated pain.

Dry Needling can be used with optimal results in any muscular or tendon injury.

Dry Needling can only be used by experienced physiotherapists with specific post graduate education and training for usage in treating Myofascial Trigger points
